Who I am
I'm Fraser, founder of Lightspeed Projects and a principal planner with 14 years in planning and project controls. Before that, I spent nine years as a detective with Police Scotland. That combination shapes how I work. As a detective I learned to establish what really happened from documents, data and people, and to present it so it stands up to scrutiny. As a planner I apply the same discipline to programmes, from focused interventions to multi-billion pound portfolios.
Experience
I've held lead planner and project controls roles with a major international energy operator, a subsea contractor and a global engineering contractor, across the North Sea, Teesside, Rotterdam, Egypt, West Africa and the US.
My work spans oil and gas, subsea construction and IRM, offshore wind, hydro, decommissioning and low carbon projects, brownfield and greenfield, from concept to closeout. I'm used to reporting at executive and board level and turning complex programme data into the decisions that need taking.
Alongside the planning work, I've set up and improved PMO and project controls processes, from change control and governance to monthly reporting.
How I work
Every engagement is led by me personally. Every finding is traced to evidence in the source data, and every report states what the analysis can and cannot establish. Where a project needs more capacity, I bring in trusted associate planners and review everything before it reaches you.
